i haven't painted in nearly 3 weeks. This was an excuse to bust out the paints- good practice. Done on drafting film which proves to be a beautiful and unique surface. I originally was testing charcoal on it which also looks pretty- I wiped the charcoal off with a mineral spirit wash and painted this over it.

A bargue drawing

Tonight I have a study to show. Based on a bargue plate- commonly used in academic art institutions. Nearly 10 hours were spent on this one, and next time I should probably slow down! While it does look pretty, there are many flaws from the original.

Still life with David's eye.

This would be assignment 2. The still life portion of the image was to be done half in color, and half in black and white; the background was to be completely invented. I didn't really get very proficient with the colored pencils until the cloth, which is the last thing I did. This one has the honor of being my first all-nighter here at SCAD to work on it.

The Conversationalists

This drawing was my first assignment in Drawing II class here at SCAD. The subject was a bouquet of flowers and the focus of the assignment was on abstract mark making techniques. The image is very large so click on the thumbnail and enjoy the details.

Oh the still lives in my dorm

There will likely be hundreds of these still lives by the end of this year. I've been working with the same subject matter and experimenting with different materials, colors, and surfaces.
