Drawing Progress

These are all images taken after the first days of the projects in Life Painting class. I've noticed that I've gotten much faster ( the first is an unfinished drawing, the second's lower body was rushed, and the third I had enough time to start indicating value and environment) and slightly more accurate. In the latest I've unconsciously done away with my calligraphic brush stroke in favor of straighter lines ( we'll keep the fancy stuff for Alla Prima painting). I'm hoping my speed will allow me to bring the last one to a higher level of finish and deal with color a bit better.

Hearts Under Fire

Painted a beautiful girl last night. The time span must have been around 7 hours but it was interrupted by dinner, various youtube videos, and plenty of conversation.

Continuing the series

This one is more fantastical than the other two, but still has the same things in mind during it's execution. It Doesn't photograph as well as the other two.

Work from Life Painting class

First day of the second in-class painting. I think I'm getting slightly better at measuring/ drawing.
untitled. 22x28 inches. Oil on canvas. WIP.

Start of a self portrait for homework. I like working with the light umber ground and vine charcoal in this beginning stage. I think it's kind of how Sargent started his works.

8 hour painting in raw umber, the first in-class assignment.
