Work from Life Painting class

First day of the second in-class painting. I think I'm getting slightly better at measuring/ drawing.
untitled. 22x28 inches. Oil on canvas. WIP.

Start of a self portrait for homework. I like working with the light umber ground and vine charcoal in this beginning stage. I think it's kind of how Sargent started his works.

8 hour painting in raw umber, the first in-class assignment.

Study of Van Dyck's Cornelius

11x14, charcoal and chalk on paper.

I've done some more work on it since this picture, most of which is interpreting the hue changes ( obviously not seen in black and white) into the drawing so I have that knowledge when I proceed to paint.
